
Environmental Protection Supervision and Firm Investment Decision
This paper studies the impact of Central Environmental Protection Inspections (CEPI) initiated by China’s central government on listed firms’ investment decisions. After the central inspection team entered and stationed a province, high-polluting enterprises reduced investment stock in the same province by about 8% in the form of subsidiaries.
